Art
is my visual language. I compose my works with visual images that relate to what
I feel is important within my home. My “female” work of “domestic sense” involves
a world of pattern, flowers and headless torsos. My enthusiasm for making visual images has been a life long pursuit. The images within my body of work are visual symbols “metaphors,” for my life. I also work with the figure and the portrait. There must be a spontaneity and freshness that is entirely expressive of the subject. I work from observation and photographs, as well as paper clippings as a source of material.
Thorough research goes into each painting. I am always looking for ways to create a more expressive work. With a natural curiosity and desire to always create and learn I am always experimenting with material and pushing my potential. Drawing and compositional fundamentals of theory are always practiced.

I
have been painting the figure for 15 years. I primarily paint in oil paints, however,
often use a variety of media in my paintings making them mixed media. I have a
Bachelors in Art in Studio painting and Bachelor of English literature. Traveling
has also been an important part of my education. Living and painting as an artist
in the Czech Republic-Prague in 1999-2000 was a wonderful learning experience
that I carry with me everywhere. | |
